Why do film, streaming, and broadcast studios send companies in their database "call" notices?
Basically, they're looking for scripts from a specific genre. This can be any number of reasons, i.e. seasonal marketing trends, specific sponsors, budgets, audience they want to target, etc.
That's why a "call" notice is sent out.
Our team usually contacts writers they know have projects that meet industry standards for submitting.
Typically, when an studio exec asks you what's your project is about. They know what genre they want, talent they have contracts with, and the budget to pay for it.
